YWAM in Sweden

History
Youth With A Mission Sweden was started in 1976 and has trained and sent out thousands of young and old people into long term or short term missions. The first centre was established 1980 at Restenäs by Ljungskile, north of Göteborg. Centres have since then been established in Stockholm (1995), Vilhelmina (2003), Dalarna (2003) and Linköping (2008). We also have smaller ministry teams in Malmö, Borås and Strömstad. Out of our centres we are ministering in Sweden and reaching out to the nations. We are around 120 full time staff in Sweden and every year hundreds of people participate in schools, mission trips, projects and ministries.

Structure
YWAM is a decentralized organisation where each ministry has a lot of freedom. In Sweden, every centre is a registered charity organisation. A National Leadership Team (NLT) coordinates national events and campaigns and has the overall responsibility for YWAM in Sweden. The national leadership also is supported by YWAM:s regional leadership team in Northern Europe.

YWAM is independent and interdenominational, but normally works together with denominations, churches and Christian organisations.

Vision
Our vision is to work together with local churches to inspire for revival and missions. Sweden has been one of the countries in the world that has sent out most missionaries. We believe and hope for a new missions wave over our nation, a big number of Swedes that in word and deed make Jesus known in the world!
