Youth With A Mission Restenäs on the beautiful Swedish West Coast is one of the largest properties owned by the mission globally. YWAM had been active in Sweden since the late 70’s and started to rent Restenäs in 1979, purchasing the property one year later. Formerly a Christian boarding school, the facility consists of thirteen buildings comprising classrooms, a gymnasium, staff apartments, meeting rooms and a café.
From the start, the property provided an ideal environment for running Discipleship Training Schools as well as a variety of second level YWAM courses, its size allowing for the rapid growth of both staff and students. As the years went by, hundreds came from all over the world to be trained at Restenäs and the centre quickly became known as a springboard into missions worldwide.
Since its beginning, YWAM Restenäs has experienced different seasons of growth and challenges. Through all of this, one thing has remained clear: lives renewed by God in this community have been a blessing for the rest of the world!
As we look back at the history of YWAM here, we see a common theme of what God has spoken concerning its identity and who we are to be as a community. We believe that God is calling us by name to be a place of renewal, growth and innovation. Restenäs is where lives are renewed by His love and truth; where people live as disciples growing both in character and skills, being released in their callings to impact societies all over the world.
